Is iSIM closing?
Yes. Following the merger of iSIM with Virgin Mobile in 2006 and after much careful consideration, a decision has been taken to stop offering the iSIM service.
The service will close on 15 July 2010.
What notification was given of the closure of iSIM?
All existing customers were given 6 months notice of the 15 July 2010 closure date in accordance with the Standard Form of Agreement (SFOA), including notices in The Australian newspaper which is published in every state, as well as SMS notifications.
Can I recharge now that the service is closing?
Yes, you can continue to recharge until 15 June 2010, but all recharge credits will expire at midnight on 15 July 2010.
This means the earlier you recharge, the more time you’ll have to use the credit.
What options do I have now iSIM is closing?
Existing iSIM customers can choose to swap to Virgin Mobile’s Bean Counter and will receive $20 bonus credit1 in addition to the Starter Kit with $10 Bean Counter credit2 all new Bean Counter customers receive.

If I move to Virgin Mobile, can I keep my number?
Yes! When you move to Virgin Mobile you can either transfer your old phone number or get a new one.
What happens if I don’t do anything?
If you don’t move to Virgin Mobile’s Bean Counter (or other pre-paid voucher) or port to another mobile service provider, your service will be cancelled on 15 July 2010 and you will lose your phone number.
Why should I swap to Bean Counter?
The award winning Bean Counter is very similar to iSIM and even better in some ways:
It's cheap. 10c a minute standard national calls3 plus 25c call connection, 10c standard texts in Oz, FREE voicemail in Oz. That's 24/7, NO catches.
It's all online. Just like iSIM, so you save time: manage your account, set auto-top up options, check usage history and more. You control everything.
It's simple. No confusing CAP deals, no peak/off peak times, just great value
National calls which are longer than 544 seconds will generally be cheaper with Bean Counter than with iSIM.
3) Billed in 30 second increments. 4) Cost for a 54 second call with Bean Counter is 35c (25c call connection + 10c call charge). Cost for a 54 second call with iSIM is 36c (0c call connection + 36c call charge).
Here's a summary to help you compare.

I don’t use my credit very quickly so 45 days expiry is not enough.
If you usually top up with more than $25 on iSIM, then probably $25 over 45 days will fit you very well. Otherwise, Virgin Mobile does offer other Pre-Paid plans with longer expiry periods that may suit you better.
Should I use up my existing iSIM credit before swapping to Bean Counter?
Yes, as it won’t carry over to your new Virgin Mobile account. Why not call your mates and tell them about Bean Counter?
Don’t forget all credit will expire on 15 July 2010 if it’s not used.
Do I use my existing iSIM SIM card?
No, when you sign up with Virgin Mobile you will be sent a new Virgin Mobile SIM card which your old iSIM number will be moved to. Be sure to write down any contacts or other details which may be stored on your iSIM SIM card or save them to your phone memory before your number is transferred to the new SIM.
What if I don’t like it? Can I come back to iSIM?
No, you won’t be able to come back to iSIM as the service is closing on 15 July 2010.
If I move to Bean Counter, will the new Virgin Mobile SIM definitely work in my current phone?
If your phone works with your current iSIM SIM card, it means it’s either unlocked or locked to the Optus network. Unlocked phones have no restrictions on what SIM cards can be used with them, locked phones will need to be unlocked first.
Will my online statements be available for tax purposes?
No, your historical iSIM records will not transfer to Virgin Mobile if you swap from iSIM to Bean Counter, nor will they be available on the iSIM webpage after your account is closed or after iSIM’s closure on 15 July 2010. We advise you to print, or keep a record of any iSIM account information you might need in the future for tax or other purposes.
